ALS, 1852 Oct. 15, Philadelphia, Pa., to Aaron Ogden Dayton.

Lynch has been asked by the American Colonization Society to lead an expedition to West Africa to search for areas suitable for settlement. He had been planning an expedition of the tributaries of the Rio de la Plata, to search for connections to the headwaters of the Amazon. This would be excellent preparation for the African trip, and he asks Dayton's support in obtaining backing.
